Question:
How do I run the debug log on SVSI devices?
Answer:
Running debug logs on SVSi units
For troubleshooting purposes, debug logs are sometimes required by the technical support and engineering teams.
This document will detail where to obtain the debug log file.
Common steps (applies to all N-series SVSi encoders/ decoders)
The debug logs do not persist after a reboot, and must be obtained prior to rebooting the device.
To capture the debug logs:
- Connect to the web page for the device.
- Navigate to the 'Logs' page and scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Select 'start debug log'.
- When failure condition occurs, select 'end debug log' to generate the file.
This debug log file should now be created.
To download the generated debug log:
Refresh the ‘Logs’ page for the device
Select the ‘download debug log’ option, and save the file to the local PC
N2300 series products:
For N2300 series, it may be required to connect to the web page via HTTPS rather than HTTP.
This can be done via N-Able if Open SSL is installed on the PC, or alternatively can be done manually via a standalone web browser installed on the PC.
All N-series devices should accept a HTTPS connection to obtain the debug logs.
