Dante Audio Issue and Dante Controller
Question:
I have Network A/V devices that support Dante, such as N2600 series or N3300 series devices. Why is Dante audio sometimes not working and the Network A/V devices dissappearing out of Dante Controller?
Answer:
The issue is when the newest version of Audinate's Dante Controller is closed, sometimes, it will cause devices connected to it to crash their Dante service. That version of Dante Controller is polling the Dante devices for information that is not available in old versions of Audinate's Dante SDK. The firmware used for the Network A/V devices is not currently utilizing the most recent version of the Dante SDK.
Because of the extra polling in Dante Controller, it puts the 2600s, 3300s, etc. in a weird position where when the service crashes, the only way to tell if the device has failed is to open Dante Controller and see if it has dissappeared, but then if you close Dante Controller again it can possibly crash the Dante service, but you can’t tell without Dante Controller and the cycle just perpetuates itself.
The workaround is to downgrade the version of Dante Controller running on the PC to a version that did not poll for extra things not included in every SDK. Please see the downloads on the right side of this page for a version of Dante Controller that will not cause issues with devices running previous SDKs.
Engineering is currently working to update the Audinate SDK in all of our devices.
