Question:
Can the SB2210 be located in direct sunlight?
Answer:
The SB2210 speaker enclosures are made with high-impact polystyrene (HIPS). This material has a melting temperature of 90 degrees centigrade and starts to soften at around 80 degrees centigrade. The enclosure can warp or bubble in these conditions. Locating the speaker in a shaded area is recommended. The black model will act as a solar collector and surface temperature can reach up to 30 degrees above ambient temperature compared to the white model. The speaker will absorb heat and increase in temperature by an additional 10-15 degrees if mounted on hot concrete surfaces. Isolating the speaker from this type of surface is recommended.
