Netlinx Controller Locks Up Connecting to Devices via IP

Question:
Why does my Netlinx controller lock up when it attempts to connect to an IP device?
Answer:
IP_CLIENT_OPEN statements are blocking. When the controller attempts to open the IP socket, until that socket succeeds or fails, the controller will not process other commands. If other messages do come into the controller, they are queued. Once the IP_CLIENT_OPEN succeeds or fails, the controller will process the queued commands. This may cause a delay in processing or in extreme circumstances the appearance of a lockup.
