CE-IRS4 Cannot Parse IR Index Information String

Question:
What can I do if I am uploading an IRL file to a CE-IRS4 and I get the error, can not parse ir index information string.
Answer:
The file will need to be edited to only have alphanumeric characters in the filename and in the individual function names within the file.
For example, it has been popular in the past to use commas, pipes, caret, >>, >>|, vol ^, vol v, <<, |<<, ( ) etc. All of these function names will need to changed to exclude all of the special characters. Only A-Z, 0-9, and spaces are allowed.
