DCE-1 Quick Reference

EDID Management

For the EDID settings to take effect, the DCE-1 must be re-booted.

The default baud rate is 9600 but the baud rate can be changed via the CUB#T command. # can be 1-5.

1: 9600

2: 14400

3: 19200

4: 38400

5: 56000

There are only 4 options for a RS232 string ending which is set via the CUE#T command. Example: CR,LF would be CUE4T. If your string needs a different ending character, use 1 for NULL and type in the entire string when setting the ON and OFF UART.

1: NULL

2: 0X0D

3: 0X0A

4: 0X0D 0X0A

KEY POINTS

  • Your ASCII RS232 string can't contain the letters X,x,T,t because they are used to setup the DCE-1. However, you can enter the string as HEX if your string contains a X or T.
  • HEX and ASCII strings are limited to 20 characters.
  • HEX bytes must be separated by a SPACE.
  • When using ASCII, the DCE-1 converts all typed characters to upper case. If your display is case sensitive, you have to enter the string as HEX.
  • The DCE-1 does not echo typed characters so you can't see what you are typing until you are done. For this reason, it is recommend you make a Notepad file with the commands in it so you can copy and paste them to the terminal window.
  • Typing a X cancels the string you are typing so you can type a new one. There is no feedback when you press X.

EXAMPLE

  1. Set the display ON string in HEX to be Hello World
  2. CPW1PH48 65 6C 6C 6F 20 57 6F 72 6C 64T
  3. Set the display OFF string in HEX to be NEXT
  4. CPW0PH4E 45 58 54T
  5. Set the display ON string in ASCII to be Hello World. Notice the response has converted the lower case letters to upper case.
  6. CPW1PSHello WorldT

Response:

CPW1PSHELLO WORLDT
