Overview:
When using the Acendo Core you may notice that changes to application settings, application updates, and files stored in user directories are removed when you exit a guest user session. This is due to the session data purge mechanic of Acendo Core that resets the guest user profile back to preconfigured snapshot each time a session ends.
One example of this would be if you added some bookmarks to the browser but when the session exits and a new session is started those bookmarks that were added are no longer there. Another would be if an application that installs into the User/AppData directory, such as Zoom, must be updated each time you start a new session.
If you would like to make changes to your guest user profile you are able to do so by editing the base profile snapshot on Acendo Core. Any changes you make will be saved into a new base profile snapshot and each time a guest user session is exited the guest user profile will be reset back to the new snapshot that you created. There is also an option restore the factory default base profile if needed.
You may also need to use this process to install new applications onto Core that install into the user directory instead of the more traditional Program Files directory.
Editing the Base Profile:
- Login to Core as the coreadmin user. *default password is c0r3@dmiN
- Open the Acendo Core Settings menu.
- Go to the User Profiles section on the left side of the menu.
- Select “Enter special mode to edit the base profile" on the right.
- Select Yes on the Setup Base Profile prompt. (this will exit your current admin session and take you into a special session in which all changes you make will be made to the base profile snapshot)
- You should now see the text “Editing Base Profile Mode" on your background to show that you are in the special base profile editing session.
- You can now make any changes you need to make for your guest user profile. Once all changes are complete move on to the next step.
- Click Finish.
- Select Yes on the Exit Session prompt.
- You will now be given another prompt asking if you want to snapshot the current base profile. Select Yes here to save the changes you made into the guest user profile snapshot.
- This will complete the base profile editing process and you will be taken back to the normal Acendo Core start screen after seeing some messaging about saving the new snapshot.
