Affected Products:
- AKG WMS470 Wireless System Handheld Transmitters (HT470)
- SKU: 3305X00010 (HT470 D5 / Vocal Sets)
Summary:
- An issue was identified where rapidly toggling the power switch (Off/On) on the WMS470 handheld transmitter could cause the unit to enter an unresponsive state or fail to power back on.
- This behavior was tied to firmware timing loops during fast power-off transitions while the display was still active. This issue is fully resolved in updated firmware v1.9 (and HEX v8 package).
Troubleshooting:
Step 1: Operational Mitigation
- For live performance or routine quick audio cuts, use the dedicated 3-way Mute switch position rather than cycling the main power switch Off and On.
Step 2: Power Recovery (Legacy Firmware Units)
- If an HT470 transmitter running older firmware locks up after rapid power cycling:
- Move the power switch to the ON position.
- Remove and reinsert the battery.
- The transmitter will initialize normally.
Step 3: Firmware Resolution
- Update transmitter firmware to v1.9 (or reflash via HEX v8 release) to permanently prevent the power-off loop.
