Encoder and Decoder Security Tab

Force HTTPS Connection ==> Requires HTTPS://encoder_IP_Address

Enable Stream Encryption ==> Will encrypt the stream from encoder to decoder.  Theses passwords must match on all units that will need to view the stream.

***with stream encryption enabled you will not be able to view the stream in VLC.

****If the customer has the folder to expose the encrypted check box, checking and unchecking the box has no effect on the 3k units

Command Port Security
When Secure ports only is checked all unsecure command ports (50002-4) are non-responsive.

You will use 50102 for a persistent connection, this is an ssl connection so it will require you to open an ssl socket.  Regular control ports are incremented by 100 in secure mode.  50001 become 50101, 50002 become 50102, etc.   Command structure changes too.  All API commands are prepended with the password that is set in the command password box (default is password) .  example commands are

  • local:1\r = password\r\local:1\r
  • live\r = password\r\live\r
All commands in the direct API are relevant as long as the prepend Is in place.
