Overview:
This article will guide you through using CobraNet Discovery Tool to set the IP address of the CobraNet card in a device.
Setup CobraNet Discovery:
- Go to tools>Preferences>Check Enable SNMP
- Go to tools>Options>Select the network interface connected to the CobraNet Network.
- The auto assignment can be used in cases where the new paging station device doesn't have an IP address. This will enable a type of DHCP so be careful using that on networks where some devices use automatic/DHCP because this will hand out IP addresses.
Configure the Device:
Setting The Current IP
- Double Click on a device that you want to configure to open the interface
- Select SNMP
- Under the Group select Monitor
- Under the Variable select ip Mon Current IP
- Selecting Get will pull the current IP address
If you need to change the current IP address you can type it in and select put.
Setting a Static IP:
- Select ip Mon Static IP under the variable
- Type in the IP address you want and select put.

Setting Persistence
:
- Go to Advanced

- Make sure the persistence box is checked. Without this the device will not retain its IP address if the device is power cycled.
Note:
Do not change the device name on devices because this will break communication of the CM-1 card with the host interface.
