Transcript
Welcome to the getting to know crown cdi drive core series amplifier video the widely popular crown cdi series amplifiers have evolved into the cdi drive core series and have improved in several ways drive core technology replaces over 500 parts found in traditional amplifiers with just a single chipset in doing so the following results are experienced reduced weight a higher signal to noise ratio and better thermal performance all models can be provided with the basic configuration through the front panel utilizing the controls and color display making small installations quick and easy a front panel lockout is also available to ensure the device configuration is not compromised an ethernet connection is also available on all amplifiers allowing for configuration control and monitoring of multiple amps simultaneously through audio architect simplifying larger installations whether using the front panel or audio architect onboard digital signal processing is available to every channel an input router is available for selecting either mono or some analog inputs as well as blue link channels where available input parametric equalization is available for tuning the room while a parametric eq on the output is available for tuning loudspeakers input delay is available allowing for zones of loudspeakers such as side fills to be time aligned to the front of house section while output delay is available for time aligning subwoofers to the mains a crossover section is available for applying band pass filters to loudspeakers and removing unnecessary frequencies and finally crown's level max limiters are available at the end of the signal chain for limiting the voltage output of the amplifier and ensuring optimal performance from the loudspeaker speaking of loudspeakers all amplifiers are stocked with a wide array of selectable jbl loudspeaker tunings to dial in output processing and speed up the commissioning period for applications such as install portable pa cinema or recording in broadcast the cdi drive core series amplifiers have two and four channel models sized at two rack units available with either 300 600 or 1200 watts per channel simultaneously operating at either 4 or 8 ohms output power can be doubled when operating bridge mono mode channels can also be independently configured for high impedance applications operating as 70 volt or 100 volt outputs a universal power supply in every model allows for this series of amplifiers to be used all around the globe each model has a sister model featuring harman's proprietary low latency digital audio bus blue link allowing for up to 256 channels of audio to be distributed across harmon devices considering such a rich feature set we find the cdi drive core series amplifiers are suitable for a wide array of applications including bars and restaurants corporate environments retail shops ancillary areas of stadiums and arenas theme parks houses of worship convention centers and more now you might just be wondering how does the cdi drive course stack up against the drive core install amplifiers in addition to 2 and four channel models dci amplifiers can afford up to eight channels in a two rack unit form factor and are capable of delivering more power per channel simultaneously operating for longer periods of time heat dissipation is handled differently with two to three fans depending on the model in addition to the analog and blu-link models dci amplifiers are also available with avb or dante networked audio transports the analog models found in the dci series do not feature any form of network control and monitoring but as its namesake implies all models feature the same drive core technology all network series dci amplifiers also come with advanced monitoring features not found in the cdi drive course series such as continuous load monitoring thermal error monitoring and pilot tone detection although somewhat similar in specs which family of amplifiers should be used while the cdi drive core is an extremely versatile line capable of many medium duty applications the dci lines should be used in mission critical applications given its advanced monitoring features and considering it was built to operate for longer periods of time imagine the cdi drive core series as a small car and the dci series as a large truck both share similar technologies and can travel long distances the car will be suitable for transporting a person to and from the office daily but unlike the truck it will be inadequate for hauling large loads continuously throughout the day what's right for the job comes down to the requirements of the application for more info on the cdi drive course series please visit www www.crownaudio.com and thanks for watching
