- EON700 Series Columns / Speakers
Summary:
- A firmware defect has been identified in the JBL EON710 where toggling between "Pre" and "Post" settings for the mix out via the JBL Pro Connect App has no actual effect. The speaker's Pass Thru output remains structurally locked in the "Post" configuration.
- When operating in this state, adjusting the main gain on the primary (first) speaker directly alters the gain sent to downstream, daisy-chained units. This behavior bypasses the intended "Pre" isolation, which can lead to high gain cascading down the line and widespread clipping across integrated speaker setups.
Troubleshooting / Verification Steps:
- To verify this behavior in a test enviornment or on-site configuration:
- Setup Multi-Speaker Environment: Connect at least two speakers together via the Pass Thru output to properly monitor signal level transmission.
- Toggle App Settings: Connect via the JBL Pro Connect App and switch the Mix Out behavior between "Pre" and "Post".
- Verify Gain Interaction: Increase the main gain control on the first speaker. If the output volume of the second speaker simultaneously rises despite being set to "Pre", the console firmware is exhibiting the defect.
- Identify Affected Firmware: Confirm if the unit is running release firmware version 6.2.7.0, where the bug is actively present.
- Apply Resolution / Firmware Update: Update the unit to firmware version 6.2.9 or later via the JBL Pro Connect App to resolve the issue.
