Question:
Why does the touchpanel repeatedly fall offline with a controller and the IP settings blink inside the Varia settings?
Answer:
With static IP addressing, a bad gateway or DNS entry will cause panel to blink the IP address continuously as it attempts the connection.The issue is the panel cannot connect correctly if the DNS address added is not present and reachable on the network.It doesn’t matter if the IP address used in the DNS entry really provides a DNS service, it just has to be reachable.
To get to the point of changing IP information you will need to set the IP settings to DHCP and save in between blinks, this may take several tries because you have to be quick.
- Workarounds if no DNS is used or safely available
- Don't touch the DNS field at all
- Use IP 0.0.0.0 as DNS
- Use the panel’s own IP address as DNS address
After implementing one of the above workarounds, the panel will connect and behave as expected.
