Models:

  • ENOVA DGX

Overview:

In the event your older DGX CPU fails and needs replacement, it will need to be updated to a newer 100 series CPU as legacy DGX CPUs are no longer available. The guide steps below run through the required process.

Procedure:

If the module of the DGX starts with FG1058xx, FG1059xx or FG1060 it will need to follow this path

Steps to update:

  1. Power down DGX and unseat all IO cards including AIE.
  2. Remove the CPU card and replace with the new CPU one.
  3. Power up the DGX and wait for the systems to come online (you will now have 3 devices
  4. Right click on the 5002 device and select firmware transfer.
  5. Then send the 3.8.18 kit which should abort due to an "Out of Memory" error. This is expected due to an MCPU memory allocation requirement.
  6. Then REBOOT the cage (Send reboot in telnet) which WILL START the MCPU upgrade process from the previous aborted file transfer. You can monitor the upgrade status to know when it has completed.
  7. Once that has completed and the 5002 is back online, insert all of the cards and send kit 3.8.18 again and allow it to finish updating all cards
  8. Once this has finished you now need to update the front panel of the DGX.
  9. Locate the thumb screws on the front panel and unscrew, remove panel taking care not to pull the connection cables out.
  10. With a serial cable (Female to female cross over) connect your PC to the serial connection on the front panels rear and run the
  11. Locate and open the DGX_Control_Panel_Upgrade file folder.
  12. Run the Setup.exe program to install AppCodeLoader and any associated files on your PC.
  13. Launch the AppCodeLoader program.
  14. Set Serial Port Settings for your system:
    1. Set Baud Rate to 9600
    2. Select the Com port. (Only ports 1-9 are available options.)
  15. Browse for the “image-v2.2.0pre5.enc" file to upload.
  16. Click the “Start Upload" button and wait for the upload to finish.  The [Expected Checksum] and [Returned Checksum] will match when the upload is complete. The update takes about 3 minutes and says “Upload Successful!" when complete.
  17. Click Exit.
  18. Turn off AC power to the enclosure. Make sure none of the power supply LEDs are illuminated.
  19. Remove serial cable and replace control panel.  Tighten the four captive screws – be careful not to pinch the wires when securing the control panel.
  20. Apply power to the enclosure.

The DGX should now be fully updated to 100 series firmware, Please ensure any TX or RX units are now also updated to v1.13.43 for RX and v1.8.47 for TX units.
