Si Mixer Channel Linking Not Available

hen trying to link 2 mono channels, the linking option (-Type) is grayed out.

If you select the Input menu for a channel and try to click on -Type to link the channel, it is greyed out.

You can only link an ODD numbered channel to the next EVEN numbered channel in numerical order.

To link or unlink 2 channels, first hit SEL (select) on an odd numbered channel, then hit Inputs (or Inputs & VCA) on screen..

Notice here an Even number channel was selected and the -Type is greyed out. You must select an Odd numbered channel.

After selecting the Odd numbered channel, the -Type option is now available, and we select Linked

Once linked, the 2 channel's Fader Glow should be White to indicate 2 linked channels.

No matter where the next Even numbered fader is assigned on the surface, it will operate with the Odd numbered fader it is linked to.  In this example, I moved some channels around using Fader Setup.  Notice that channel 1 is linked to channel 2, no matter where on surface it is located.  This is very handy to be able to only place 1 fader of the pair on a layer to save space.  Place the other channel of the pair in any unused space of the surface.  When you tun either of the faders up, on any layer it may reside on, the linked fader will follow on whatever layer it is on.  The only caveat is that only the faders are linked.  Unlike many other mixers on the market, all other processing is independent, so you can adjust gain, eq, dynamics, etc. differently on each channel.  This is very handy, for instance, if the stereo source you are bringing in is not balanced or identical in sound between that source's 2 channels.
