How to load IREdit on a Windows 10 computer
IREdit is an old application. It has since been replaced by IREdit2, but if you still have an AMX IRIS to capture IR codes, you need to use IREdit. Since the application has not been updated in quite some time, people have trouble getting IREdit to load on Windows 10 PC’s.
The following is how to get it to install:
There are 3 files to load (All are in the attached zip file): DOWNLOAD LINK
- IREditSystemFiles.exe
- IREditSetup.exe
- AMXIR.exe (IREdit – Database)
They should be loaded in this order. You don’t need to load the database, but you will have access to a lot of IR files if you do.
The IREditSystemFiles.exe will load .net on your machine, which is necessary for IREdit to load and run. It must be loaded first.
Right click on the installation file IREditSystemFiles.exe. Click ‘Properties’. Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab. Check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and pick Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Click ‘Run this program as administrator’. Click ‘Apply’. Click ‘Ok’.

Double-click the install file. You will see a pop-up asking to install .net. Click 'OK'.

It will take a few minutes, but after .net is installed, it will continue with the system files installation. Click 'Next'.

At this point, you can load the IREdit Database (setting compatibility mode again) if you’d like the IR database on your PC.
