Summary:
Some ELP PAR fixtures may intermittently display a "FANS ERROR" message on the fixture display when the cooling fan starts operating, even though the fan is functioning normally. The error is typically not reported through RDM and disappears after pressing the Menu button.
Troubleshooting:
Verify the symptom:
- Power on the fixture and allow it to reach a condition where fan operation is required.
- Run output functions such as color, zoom, or other effects to trigger fan operation.
- Observe whether a "FANS ERROR" message appears on the display when the fan starts.
- Confirm that the cooling fan is physically rotating and operating normally.
- Check RDM status messages.
- No fan error should be reported through RDM.
- Press the Menu button.
- Verify that the displayed error clears immediately.
The issue has been identified as a firmware-related false error condition and was resolved in firmware version 1.2.2, which includes improvements to fan error detection and fan startup voltage handling.
