Overview:

This article provides detailed instructions on how to update the firmware of your DriveRack 260 from version v1.50 to version v1.60.

The latest DriveRack 260 firmware version v1.60 was released on Aug 23, 2016.

Follow these steps to update the firmware on your unit:

Preparation Requirements

  • Windows-based computer running Windows XP, 7, 8, or 10.
  • DriveRack 260 v1.60 Updater
    DriveRack 260 Updater v1.60 (Windows)
  • RS-232 Connection.
    • If your computer doesn't have a serial port, you'll need:
      • Null-modem/crossover RS-232 cable
      • RS-232-to-USB adapter

Note:

It is strongly recommended that you back up all user presets using the DriveWare control software before performing the update.  For detailed instructions on connecting to your DriveRack 260 using DriveWare, please refer to Section 2 of this document.

Warning:

If your DriveRack 260 is a newly manufactured unit running firmware version v1.61, DO NOT downgrade the firmware to version v1.60.  Downgrading these newer units can create a firmware-to-hardware mismatch, which may cause the DriveRack 260 to operate slowly, become sluggish, or become unresponsive.

Instructions

  1. Open and run the DriveRack 260 Updater application.

  2. Choose the correct COM port for your device (this can be seen in Device Manager under Ports).

  3. Click “Connect”.

  4. Click “Update” and wait for the update procedure to finish.

  5. After completing the firmware update, power cycle the unit to verify that the correct firmware version has been installed.
The firmware version will briefly be displayed on the screen during startup.

Firmware Technical Notes

  • Maintain a stable power supply to the unit throughout the update process.
  • New Feature: Added support for updating zone controllers.
