DCiDA Amp Reboots When Dante Cross-point Is Subscribed To
Table of Contents
Question:
Why does my DCi DA amplifier reboot whenever certain Dante sources are selected?
Answer:
When a Dante source channel name has multiple space characters, 0x20, the amp may reboot when its cross point is selected.
This issue is mostly related to the number of spaces in the Dante source channel name, but its length also plays a part.
For example...
A length of 30 or 31 characters is OK, if you don't have 6 or more spaces. If the name is shorter it can have 6, but not 7.
Short channel name, no problem with 6 spaces:
01 2 3 4 5 6 no-crash
Short channel name, 7 spaces will cause a problem when the crosspoint is selected:
01 2 3 4 5 6 7 crash
29-character name, no problem with 6 spaces:
01 2 3 4 555 6666666 no-crash
30-character name, 6 spaces problem when the crosspoint is selected:
01 2 3 4 5555 6666666 cc-crash
This problem was found to occur with DCi DA Hi Qnet v1.0.3.1 amps, with Brooklyn II Dante Product v1.19.0, Dante v4.2.3.13 cards, using Dante Controller v4.13.x software.
Workaround
If you have a source name with a lot of delimiters, you may use dashes "-" or underscores "_" instead of spaces.
Firmware Fix
This issue has been fixed in the DCiDA Amplifier and Dante firmware released January 2026.
