Selector | Virtual View - AVX Architect
In this tutorial, we cover the Selector object in AVX Architect’s Virtual View, a traditional source selector that lets you choose which input source will be routed to the output. Learn where to find the Selector in the Virtual Library, how to configure it using the factory panel, and how to add it to your workspace.

In this video, we’ll continue to explore the Virtual View of AVX Architect and look at the Selector object. The Selector object is found in the virtual view, under the “Matrices” section of the audio processing objects. The Selector object is a source selector by default that has 8 inputs and 1 output. In the object window factory panel, we can see each output listed on the right and use the drop-down on the left to select between the various inputs coming to the Selector object. Notice that the output name on the object block will change to reflect whatever input is selected.
At the top of the object window factory panel, we have our usual object name, lock button, and selection mode switch. On the right, the “Properties” window has the usual naming, workspace location, and DSP allocation options. The “Options” section contains the usual channel count of the object block. Enabling “Stereo”, will change the inputs and outputs to stereo, treating them as pairs that will also be reflected in the drop-down selection. “Allow None” is on by default and will make “None” a selectable input choice, resulting in no audio passing to the output. “Use Signal Names” is also on by default. This will show the input names under the drop-down list. Turning it off will switch the input names to their respective input numbers.
Finally, we can change the mode of the Selector object from “Source Selection” to “Destination Selection”. This mode changes our matrix to have one output “destination” per one input source. An example of this could be an application with 4 meeting rooms and 4 wireless microphones. We might only want each microphone to go to a single room at any given time. This matrix now in destination mode shows our microphone inputs on the left side and the selection drop-down now on the right to designate which output, or room, each microphone will go to.
