Object Links | Virtual View - AVX Architect
In this tutorial, we explore Object Links in AVX Architect’s Virtual View, a feature that creates a 1:1 mapping of parameters between two audio processing objects of the same type. Learn how to create Object Links, understand the rules and limitations, and use them effectively in your system design.

In this video, we’ll continue to explore the virtual view of AVX Architect and look at Object Links. An Object Link represents a one to one mapping of each parameter between two or more processing objects of similar types. This helps in setting up multiple links between different types of parameters quickly and easily.
In this example, we’ve got two mixers that we’d like to link the parameters of. First, open the Parameter and Object Links window by clicking the Linking button in the top right of the Virtual View window. The left side of the Parameter and Object Links window will contain your list of links. We currently have none, but let’s create one by clicking the plus sign, then selecting “Add Object Link”. Our new Object Link now shown here in the list as “Object Link 1”. You can right click an Object Link to rename, delete, or move it to another host device. Let’s rename this one to “Mixer Link”. Remember that links cannot work with the same name and must use unique names.
Now that we have the Object Link created, let’s link our objects. Right click on the first mixer object, then select “Add to Link”. We can then use this drop-down to select our Mixer Link that we created. Next, go ahead and link the second mixer. Some quick rules about Object Links to remember:
Only objects of the same type can be linked together. You cannot link a mixer with a compressor for example. It is okay though if linked objects are dynamic and don’t contain the exact same properties such as the channel count.
Only audio objects are supported at the time of this video recording.
Objects can be linked to objects from a different device.
Objects may only be tied to one Object Link at a time.
Once our objects are linked, we can see this in our Parameter and Object Links window under the “Mixer Link” we created. Now, bringing up the factory panels for these mixers, we can see that the parameters are linked, and making changes in one mixer will be reflected in the other. Parameters that don’t exist in both mixers are still free to be controlled like this extra aux send on this mixer.
Object Links can also be turned on and off. In the Parameter and Object Links window, click this button in the top right of the window to open the Links Panel. The Links Panel will present all of our Object Links along with an On/Off status button. Clicking this to turn it grey will disable the link, and we see that our mixers no longer move together. Once enabled again, the parameters will re-sync as they are moved or toggled. This Links Panel also has a selection mode switch, allowing us to grab this on/off button and use it in GPI control or using in a custom control panel.
