Overview:

This article explains Object Links in the VIRTUAL view of AVX Architect.

Description:

An Object Link represents a one-to-one mapping of each parameter between two or more processing objects of similar types.

This feature simplifies the process of creating multiple links between different types of parameters quickly and efficiently.

This example will link parameters two mixers.

Open the Parameter and Object Links window by selecting the Linking button in the top-right corner of the VIRTUAL view window.

The left side of the Parameter and Object Links window displays the list of links.

If no links exist, create one by selecting the plus sign and then choosing Add Object Link.

The new Object Link will appear in the list as Object Link 1.

Right-click an Object Link to rename, delete, or move it to another host device.

Rename the link to Mixer Link.

Links must have unique names and cannot share the same name.

After creating the Object Link, link the objects. Right-click the first mixer object and select Add to Link.

Use the drop-down menu to select the Mixer Link created earlier.

Repeat the process for the second mixer.

Important rules for Object Links include:

  • Only objects of the same type can be linked together. For example, a mixer cannot be linked to a compressor. Linked objects may differ in properties such as channel count.
  • Only audio objects are supported at the time of this article.
  • Objects can be linked across different devices.
  • Objects may only belong to one Object Link at a time.
  • Once objects are linked, the Parameter and Object Links window will display them under the Mixer Link.

Opening the factory panels for the mixers will show that parameters are linked, and changes made to one mixer will be reflected in the other.

Parameters that do not exist in both mixers remain independently controllable, such as an extra aux send.

Object Links can be enabled or disabled.

In the Parameter and Object Links window, select the button in the top-right corner to open the Links Panel.

The Links Panel displays all Object Links along with an On/Off status button.

Selecting the button to turn it gray disables the link, and linked objects will no longer move together.

Re-enabling the link will resynchronize parameters as they are adjusted.

The Links Panel also includes a selection mode switch, allowing the On/Off button to be used in GPI control or incorporated into a custom control panel.
