Question:
Can you downgrade firmware on a Varia panel?
Answer:
While a full firmware build cannot be downgraded (eg. firmware version 1.11.42 downgrade to 1.11.29) due to Android limitations, downgrades are possible when loading an app update. An app update only contains updates to panel personas and other apps, without performing a full firmware upgrade. In this case, if desired, apps can be downgraded by performing a Factory Reset on the panel. The Factory Reset would revert apps back to the versions included in the base firmware.
For example, if a Varia panel that's running firmware 1.11.42 (which includes apps versions 1.6.7) gets an app update to 1.6.9, it remains on firmware 1.11.42. If needed, a Factory Reset would revert all apps back to 1.6.7. The panel remains on firmware 1.11.42.
Firmware version & app versions can be verified in the panel settings, Advanced Settings -> About Panel. They can also be verified in Manager software by selecting a panel from the device grid, selecting Configure, and then scrolling down to the Panel Config section.
