Overview:

When using Zoom on Acendo Core, if you notice that every time that you try to open Zoom it has to be updated before you can use it this is due to Zoom requiring that all Zoom clients must be updated to v5.0+ in order to join Zoom meetings, and the client that is installed on the base profile of Acendo Core does not meet that requirement.

Instructions:

Due to a change from Zoom to the installation location of the Zoom application there will be additional steps required in order to update the application and change the application link in the AcendoCore Settings menu to point to the correct version.

Update the Application

  1. Log into the coreadmin account on your device, default password is c0r3@dmiN
  2. Open the AcendoCore Settings menu
  3. Select the User Profiles section on the left
  4. Select the option to 'Enter special mode to edit the base profile' and choose Yes on the prompt
*This will exit the coreadmin session and take you into a session in which you are editing the base profile for the guest account. You will know that you are in this session by a note on the background that states “Editing Base Profile Mode"
  5. From this special session you will need to open Zoom, login to Zoom, and attempt to join a meeting
*You should see the application update once you do this and allow it to update if prompted.
  6. Once Zoom is updated you can log out of the Zoom application
  7. Click Finish in the bottom left corner
  8. Select Yes on the Exit Session prompt
  9. Select Yes on the prompt that asks 'Do you want to snapshot the current base profile'
*This should take you back to the Acendo Core home screen

Change the Application Link

At this point the new version of Zoom should be installed but the application link in the AcendoCore Settings menu is still pointed to the old version of Zoom. To change the application link you will follow the steps below.

  1. Log into the coreadmin account on your device, default password is c0r3@dmiN
  2. Open File Explorer and enable show hidden items by clicking View and checking the 'Hidden items' check box
  3. Open the AcendoCore Settings menu
  4. Select the Applications section on the left
  5. Find the entry for Zoom in the Applications Listed section
  6. Select the pencil icon next to the Zoom entry to edit the application listing
  7. On the Edit Application window that is opened in the previous step select Browse
  8. Browse to the new Zoom installation directory which should be C:/Users/coreguest/AppData/Roaming/Zoom/bin
  9. Select the Zoom.exe executable file and press Open
  10. Select OK on the Edit Application Window
  11. You should now see the updated path in the Applications List for Zoom
  12. Exit the coreadmin session
  13. Press Use Room Now to start a guest session
  14. Launch Zoom to verify it is no longer updating and is now showing the updated version
