Explorer | UI Design View - AVX Architect
In this tutorial, we introduce the Explorer in the UI Design view of AVX Architect. The Explorer is a powerful tool for managing all elements in a custom control panel, making it easy to select multiple objects, organize layouts, and streamline design workflows. Learn how to use the Explorer to manage Z‑order, hide objects, and lock elements to prevent accidental edits.

In this video, we’re going to continue covering the UI Design view and look at the Explorer. The Explorer is found on the right pane of the UI Design view and contains all the elements of our custom panels. Remember that you can minimize sections of the side panes if you can’t see the Explorer by default.
The Explorer will show all the objects contained in the currently selected panel’s page. This list also shows us the Z-order of these objects. In this example, I’ve got one rectangle on the top of the Z-order, and another rectangle on the bottom. In this case, I might want to move this rectangle over for cosmetic reasons and adjust its place in the Z-order. You could right-click and Send to Back or move it around this way, but this might become tedious juggling the Z-order over multiple objects. With the Explorer, you can simply click and drag an object to rearrange its place in the Z-order. Now our rectangle is sitting above the other one, but below all the buttons and faders.
Something else we can do with the explorer is turn on or off the visibility of certain objects in the panel. If I wanted to hide this mute button and make it hidden, simply find the button in the Explorer list and click the “eye” button to toggle the visibility. Objects can also be locked using the “lock” icon. If we lock this bottom rectangle, then it will simply prevent us from accidentally moving this rectangle around in the workspace. If your panel has a lot of components, you can also use this search field at the top of the Explorer to quickly find whatever you need, like a fader. This could also make it easier to select multiple objects at once to move or modify.
