Glossary:
Allocation – What DSP hardware a processing object resides in.
Attenuation - Negative gain.
AVX Suite – A collection of software programs to design, control and manage Soundweb Omni projects.
AVX Architect – A multi-platform (Windows, i OS) program for defining and configuring Soundweb OMNI projects and creating control panels for AVX Control.
AVX Control – A multi-platform (Windows, i OS, Android) program that receives custom-built Control panels from AVX Architect.
AVX Manager – A multi-platform (Windows, i OS) program used to manage network setting, firmware and files.
AMX MUSE Automator – A customized version of the flow-based automation programming tool, Node-RED, for defining and configuring an AMX MUSE automation controller (Soundweb OMNI has an integrated MUSE automation controller). For Windows PC.
Bindings – The connection between a control and parameter. For example, "the fader control is bound to the channel 1 gain parameter inside P1"
Component List - An area within the left pane of the Virtual View of AVX Architect which shows all physical inputs/outputs in all devices that have been added to the project in the System View. These inputs/outputs can be dragged from the Component List to the Virtual View canvas, resulting in the creation of Input or Output objects.
Configuration - A generic term meaning how a device has been configured. It describes the objects and parameters of the device.
Connected - Online to a system meaning any changes made in software will be sent to the physical devices. Previously known as “Online" in Audio Architect.
Connector - The UI element on a processing block which is used as a connection point when working with wires.
Control panel - A custom panel created in AVX Architect and sent to AVX Control used to control parameters in Soundweb OMNI and other HARMAN Professional products.
Dashboard – The Home screen where all your projects are displayed.
Deploy – The act of transitioning AVX Architect from disconnected to connected. This will prompt you to send the file to the device if needed.
Device - A device such as amplifier or microphone. A device can be physical or virtual.
Device Connected - Device is discovered and communicating from the perspective of the software.
Device Disconnected - Device is not discoverable from the perspective of the software. This could be caused by any number of reasons and does not mean the device is malfunctioning.
Disconnected - Offline to a system meaning any changes made in software will not be sent to the physical devices. Previously known as “Offline" in Audio Architect.
Discovered device - A device which has been discovered by software and could be communicated to. It may or may not be matched.
Discovery - The process for discovering a physical device on a network. HControl has a discovery mechanism which involved broadcast UDP messages.
DSP configuration - The part of device configuration which refers to the audio and logic signal flow and processing.
Export – Exporting a project from your Dashboard to an external file.
Factory Panel – The default control panel that appears for processing objects, devices, and other special-purpose windows. (e.g. Links Panel, Preset Panel, etc.)
Fixed architecture - Fixed architecture refers to how the configuration of a device is created. Fixed architecture devices have their configuration created by the product engineers. A device whose configuration is fixed and cannot be changed by the user.
Gain - A change in level. It is a relative value and measured in d B.
HControl object - Generic term for an object within HControl. An HControl model is composed of one or more objects.
Import – Importing an existing project to your Dashboard from an external file.
Level - The level of the audio, usually measured in db FS. It is an absolute value.
Local preset - A local preset is a preset that lives purely on an individual device. In Hi Qnet this was named a device preset.
Matching - The process to match a virtual device in software with a discovered physical device.
Node – A network endpoint.
Open architecture - Open-architecture is the framework which allows the user to determine the configuration of the device. Open-architecture devices need some form of compiler which can take what the user has done and turn it in to files which the device can understand and instantiate the user defined configuration.
Parameter - A parameter is part of an HControl object and is the element which can be controlled. Parameters have certain attributes such as min, max, default value, value, etc.
Parameter Syncing - The process to synchronize parameter values between a virtual device and a matched physical device.
Processing Object - A specific form of HControl object which is used to represent DSP objects.
Project – Defines all aspects of the system except Scripting and Media files. Supports unlimited number of devices.
Private Dante – A Dante audio route that is controlled exclusively by AVX Architect. Route cannot be altered by Dante Controller.
Preset - A preset is used to change one or more devices via a command. Depending on the type of preset, parameter values may be changed, or entire configurations can be changed.
Panel - Generic "parent" descriptor term for the 2 sub-types of panels in AVX Suite (Factory Panels and Control Panels). Both contain controls bound to parameters.
Public Dante – A standard Dante audio route managed by Dante Controller.
Pre-configured architecture - For pre-configured architecture devices their configuration is created using templates. The foundation is open-architecture but the templates allow the device to have some configurability. It is product specific if templates are allowed to be chosen by the user.
Scene preset - A scene preset is a preset which contains parameter value from one or more devices in the system. Also known as a parameter preset.
System view – A single canvas virtual layout depicting the physical devices and their connections.
UI Design view – This is where User Interfaces are build in AVX Architect. There are three types of Interfaces here: Control Panels (which get sent to AVX Control), OMNI Keypads & Contrio Keypads.
Virtual Library – List of processing objects that can be added to your Project.
Virtual view – A single canvas virtual layout depicting audio and logic processing and routing throughout a system.
Wire - The UI element which represents how connectors are joined together.
Wire tag – Used to move a signal to another part of the virtual layout. Used to keep signal flows un-cluttered and easy to read.
Workspace / Canvas - Main area of AVX Designer where objects can be dragged to be arranged, connected, configured, etc.
Z-Order – The position of an object front to back on the virtual canvas.
