Hello, and welcome back to the Soundcraft Ui video manual series. Today, we’re going to talk about using Matrixes in the Ui24R. A Matrix another type of bus, or output, like an aux. Unlike Auxes that contain individual channels, Matrixes contain a collection of our busses or outputs like the main left and right. Let’s get started.
Sometimes you may encounter a situation where you need an additional L/R mix feed to send somewhere. Maybe to a separate video or recording input. In this case, we can sacrifice one of our auxes for a matrix that will contain a copy of the main left/right signal. Let’s go ahead and navigate to the Aux Sends by clicking the button on the top. Select an Aux, then navigate to the main aux fader on the right hand side. At the bottom of the fader, tap and hold the Aux name to bring up an additional menu, then select “Switch to Matrix”.
Once changed, our Aux should change to a darker orange color and be labeled MTX if you’re using default Aux names. Now we can see that the channels we have to mix with are no longer our individual channels, but our output busses. Now you can have a mix of any of these post processing busses, great for simply copying a bus signal. The main left/right feed is also available at the end of this page, making this an easy way to get a copy of your main mix without setting up a post fade aux mix at unity.
