VMA Series - Changing the Song Order on FAT32 USB Drives
Question:
How can I change the song order of the files on my FAT or FAT32 USB drive? There is not a way to select song order on the VMA series of mixer/amplifiers.
Answer:
The simplest way to change the order is:
- Be sure you have a backup of the audio files on the USB stick.
- Delete all the audio files from the USB stick.
- Copy them back onto the USB stick one at a time, in the order you want them to play.
The play order is set by the file system partition table. If you put some of your files in subdirectories and move those around, this can change the partition table in other ways resulting in a possibly unexpected play order.
In general, files in subdirectories will play after the files in the root directory. But if you keep the files in the same directory, they should consistently play in the order you added them to the drive.
The exception is the message track that can be set to play every 30 minutes. This is handled by giving it the name MESSAGE_1.mp3 and selecting the REPEAT ALL 30Min Message option with the Repeat button.
