Main Mix & Groups | Soundcraft Signature Plus Series

Hello, my name is Tony Smith and welcome back to the Soundcraft Signature Plus Video Manual Series. In this video, we’re going to talk about the outputs section of the mixer. We’ll cover the available outputs as well as the main bus controls.
Let’s look at our output connections first in the top right of the mixer. We have XLR connections for the main mix left and right and control room outputs. A quarter inch headphones connection below those, and quarter inch connections for all groups and auxes here.
Let’s look down at the main mix and bus controls now in the bottom right of the mixer. Groups are controlled by the red faders here. You get a fader for each group. Group pairs can also be summed to mono by pressing this SUM button. There’s a listen button, and a toggle for routing each group to the main mix.
The main mix output is controlled by this yellow fader. Above it we have some controls. A mute toggle, DIM, which will drop the level of the output by 12db which can be useful for dropping the audio quickly without affecting your mix level, and the smaller blue talkback button which routes the talkback microphone input through the main mix. We’ll cover the talkback feature in more detail in a different video. This USB button will replace the main mix signal with USB channels 1 and 2, pre-fader. Useful for quickly switching to background music between set changes.
If you’re not getting sound from your speakers, the first place you should check is the main mix meter. This meter displays dBU and dBFS and will represent what is coming out of the main mix left and right XLR outputs. If there’s no metering here, then trace the audio signal starting with your main mix fader and check the USB, mute, and DIM buttons. If your still not getting audio signal or sound to your speakers, trace back to your input channel LED indicators. Check out our Inputs video, where we cover gain staging and input signal monitoring.
