How do I add interpreter stations to an existing loop?

Open the ring at any point, daisy‑chain the IU stations, and reconnect the last one back into the delegate loop.

How many infrared channels are provided by the built‑in modulator?

The base unit includes a seven‑channel infrared modulator.

How many interpreted channels can a CS5 DU listen to at once?

Each delegate unit lets both users choose among three interpreted language channels.

What must be displayed before starting a firmware update?

Begin only when the Upgrade Tool shows “Ready for update” and the ring status is “Connected” and “Closed.”

Can interpreters use headsets with the CS5 IU?

Yes; the IU accepts optional HSD/HSC series headsets for greater freedom of movement.

How many IR transmitters do I need in a 100‑seat room?

Putting one IRT transmitter in each corner normally provides full coverage for a medium‑sized 100‑listener room.

How many language channels are available?

The base unit offers up to 63 interpreted language channels.

What is the maximum distance allowed between two CS5 microphone stations?

Shielded CAT5 runs can be up to 330 ft / 100 m long.

What does a blinking red gooseneck LED during power‑up mean?

It marks the spot where the ring is open, helping you locate and fix the faulty cable.

Which LEDs flash during normal power‑up?

Yellow REMOTE and red NOM LEDs on the base unit flash until the ring is recognized, after which the green POWER LED lights.

Will the conference stop if a ring cable breaks?

No; the system automatically splits into two stubs so the meeting can continue until the break is repaired.

How many microphone stations can one PS12 power supply feed?

Each PS12 powers up to 12 stations - six to the left and six to the right of the unit it is attached to.

What kind of cable is required for the system bus?

Use shielded CAT5 cables to ensure reliable data and power transmission.

How many microphone stations can a CS5 system support?

With additional components the system can scale to about 5 000 stations.

How do I set a CS5 VU station to chairperson (president) mode?

Flip DIP switch 8 on the underside of the VU station to the ON position to designate it as president.

How do I start the learning process?

Insert the service card into any VU station and press buttons 1 and 5 together until the display confirms “learning succeeded.”

What should I do after the firmware update finishes?

Power‑cycle all ring supplies, wait about a minute, then relearn the system before use.

Which port connects a control PC to the system?

A USB port on the base unit enables computer‑controlled operation and software updates.

Which voting modes does the VU station support?

It can operate with one‑, three‑ or five‑button voting and can act as delegate or chairman.

When should I run the system learning process?

Run the learning procedure at first start‑up or any time stations are added or removed to ensure each receives a unique address.
