FEATURE UPDATE - INSTALL MARKET November 2024
Summary:
JBL DSi2.0 Firmware version 1.1.14.1 helps customers to use DSI 2.0 amplifiers for a broader range of applications. This update adds JBL Speaker Tunings for the Install, PPA and Record and Broadcast range of loudspeakers in addition to the already available Cinema tunings. These tunings for the DSi 2.0 amplifiers can be used via Audio Architect as well as the front panel of the Amplifiers.
Additional information includes how to setup the amplifiers for HiZ (70V or 100V) operation.
This Document only outlines the changes impacted by the new Feature Update and MUST be used in conjunction with the User Manual found at https://jblpro.com/en-US/products/dsi-2-0-series#downloads
FEATURE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS:
The required files are available as a Feature Update directly within Audio Architect.
- Install the latest version of Audio Architect from the website https://audioarchitect.harmanpro.com/en-US/software
- Please start Audio Architect in Administrator Mode. This can be done by right clicking on the Audio Architect Shortcut and selection option Run as Administrator.
- The DSI 2.0 Install Firmware is available as a Feature Update.
- This can be accessed under File > Application Options > Feature Updater.
- Clicking on the Start button will download any available updates and install them in the appropriate folders so AA can access them.
- Once Firmware Update files are downloaded, Audio Architect will prompt the user to restart the application so Audio Architect can reference the new files.
- In Audio Architect, populate all Amplifiers and configure speaker tunings based on the installed system.
- A pop up appears for a firmware update. Follow the instructions to update the firmware on the amplifiers and reboot the amplifiers once the update is completed. This Firmware update is critical to ensure that the amplifiers execute the speaker tunings as required.
- Click Go Online and Synchronize the system using S for send to Amplifiers or R to receive settings from the amplifiers.
HI-Z SYSTEM OPERATION
The JBL DSi2.0 Amplifiers do NOT support Hi-Z operation natively. However, there are ways this can be achieved with some prior planning.
The SA4/SA4-D will support 70V when using the amplifier in bridged mode. Note: The SA4/SA4-D will NOT support 100V operation.
The MA4/MA4-D will support 70V/100V when using the amplifier in bridged mode.
The LA4/LA4-D will support 70V/100V operation on all 4 channels.
Since the amplifiers do not support Hi-Z operation natively, there are a couple of points to adhere to when using the DSI 2.0 for Hi-Z loads.

A High Pass Filter must be engaged to prevent Transformer saturation. A Butterworth 24dB per octave filter at 35Hz must be used.

A RMS Level Limiter must be set in the Limiter section. For 70V operation, the RMS Level must be set to 70V and for 100V operation, the RMS Level must be set to 100V.
