Processors - Front Panel Walkthrough | BSS Soundweb OMNI
In this tutorial, we explore the front panel of the Soundweb OMNI 256p and 512p processors and show you how to navigate its menus. Learn what each LED indicator means, how to access different settings, and get familiar with the basic controls that help you manage your DSP hardware.

In this video, we’re going to give you a quick overview of the front panel indicators and menu options available to the Omni 256p and 512p Digital Signal Processors.
To the right of the screen, each DSP will have a rotary encoder, indicator lights, and some buttons. Let’s cover these first. The encoder will have a green light around it under normal operating conditions. During the boot process, this ring can show different colors, but we’ll cover these in a different video. Under the encoder, the indicator furthest to the right is the power supply indicator. This light will be green when both power supplies are connected, and yellow when only one power supply is used. These other two indicators are for the network connections. The indicator on the left is for the H Control ports, and the middle is for the Dante ports. These indicators behave differently depending on the connections detected during the boot process. If only the primary connection is detected during boot up, then these lights will be green with a functioning connection. If both primary and secondary connections are detected at boot up, then these lights will be green with two functioning connections, but yellow if one of the connections is removed or interrupted. The buttons underneath are for navigating the menus back and forward.
The main screen might show the logo and date/time, or be dark if the screen saver is enabled. To access the menu, press the encoder. The first screen of the menu is the Status screen, and all the accessible menus can be seen on the top bar of the screen. The Status screen is a read-only page, and shows DSP and Storage percentages, date and time, Internal and CPU temperatures, the device firmware version number, primary and secondary connection statuses for Dante and H Control, power supply status indicators, and the device name. The next page is the Alerts page, which will show any faults and warnings in the list, as well as the date and time they were reported. Warnings on this page can be cleared, but faults cannot.
The next page is the H Control page. This page shows connection status indicators, IP addresses, gateways, subnets, and Mac addresses for each connection. Only the MAC address can’t be changed from this page. The bottom of the page shows the device name and the network traffic mode. The Dante page will show the two Dante ports similarly to the H Control page with all the networking information and will also display the Dante Name for reference with Dante Controller. Finally, the Clock page displays the clock source, which could be internal if the DSP is the master clock, or External if clocking from another device. Sample rate is shown on the right and could be 48 or 96k.
