OMNI I/O Expander Factory Panels | Virtual View - AVX Architect

Video Manual Series

Written by Tony Smith

Updated at October 30th, 2026

In this video, we cover the factory panels for audio input and output objects in AVX Architect for Soundweb OMNI I/O Expanders. Learn how to add audio objects to the workspace, configure input settings like gain and polarity, monitor audio levels with meters, and check digital audio sync information.

Transcript
In this video, we’re going to continue covering the VIRTUAL view, and look at the OMNI Expander input and output factory panels. When an Expander is placed in your SYSTEM view, the input and output objects can be found in the VIRTUAL view, under the COMPONENT LIST section of the left pane. The input and output objects can be placed directly into the VIRTUAL view workspace. In this example, I’ve already placed some analog and digital inputs and outputs so we can look at their factory panels.
First is the Analog Input object. Each analog input has a variable gain microphone preamp that can be adjusted from 0 to plus 60 db of gain. This is not a stepped control, but rather a smooth continuous gain control with a resolution of two decimal places. Each input has a mute button and a polarity button. There’s also a 48V button in the top right corner to turn on phantom power for condenser microphones that require it. The bottom section of the panel contains the typical meter found in AVX Architect, with controls for Rise Time, Fall Time, and Offset. To the right is the Clip Indicator and VU meter. One difference for the analog input and output meter is that the analog meters will display both the dbfs scale on one side of the meter, and the dbu scale on the other. All other meters in AVX Architect will display dbfs.
Next is the object for the digital input. This object is will appear in the workspace as a two channel object, since this is the standard for AES3. The factory panel for this object contains no gain or phantom power as this is a digital signal. The top section has a mute and polarity button. The middle section is the standard meter. This meter scale is in dbfs since this is a digital signal. The bottom section of the panel contains an error indicator, for when there is a problem with the incoming digital signal. A sample rate indicator that will display the currently locked sample rate, and this Bypass Sample Rate Conversion button. This button should only be turned on if the digital input device is already clocking to this OMNI or if both the digital input device and OMNI are both clocking to the same external clock source.
The output objects are just as simple. The Analog Output object has the same mute and polarity controls with standard meter and meter controls. The Digital Output has the same controls as the analog output, but adds another error indicator for monitoring the digital signal.
