LED - Common Controls | UI Design View - AVX Architect

Video Manual Series

Written by Tony Smith

Updated at October 30th, 2026

In this tutorial, we cover the LED object in the UI Design view of AVX Architect. The LED is a visual indicator that provides status feedback and visual cues in custom control panels. Learn how to add an LED to a panel, assign parameters, and customize its appearance to create clear, intuitive user interfaces for AV systems.

In this video, we’re going to continue covering the Ui Design view and look at the LED object. The LED object can be useful for giving additional visual cues in control panels. The LED object can be found in the Common Controls section of the Control Library.
Let’s start by dragging an LED object into the workspace to see its default state. In the Properties section, we have the usual naming, workspace location, and sizing options. The object can also be interacted with directly in the workspace to move or resize. The general properties also contains this “On value”, which we’ll come back to in just a bit. Under the general properties, you’ll find the State Styles for the LED, where both the On and Off states of the LED can be defined. For each state, we can adjust the opacity, color, and border settings for the LED, as well as indicate if we want the LED to be flashing using this check box.
In this example, I’m going to associate this LED to our mute button, so let’s’ make the On state a red color and flashing. For the Off state, let’s make drop this opacity so it’s basically invisible. Next, we need to attach our parameter to the LED. I want to associate this mute button, but we need to locate the mute button in the Parameters Tree in the Left Pane. Once you find the parameter, simply drag and drop it from the Parameters Tree on to the LED object in the workspace. Now on the Right Pane, the mute is showing up under the Parameter Bindings section. Launch the panel, and notice that the LED is at the zero opacity state, because the mute is off. Turn the mute on, and the LED will begin to flash.
Let’s see the LED attached to a multi-state parameter. I’m going to drag the LED object over this source selector. This source selector has 3 inputs and is going to be our multi-state object to pair with. Find the source selector parameter in the Parameters Tree, then drag and drop it onto the LED. Now notice that the On Value has updated in the General Properties on the Right Pane. This drop-down can be used to select which input will trigger the On state of the LED. Right now, it’s set to input 3. Launch the panel, and you’ll see that it launches with input 3 selected and the LED on. If we select a different input, or state, then the LED goes off. The LED will be on only for this input 3, and off for the others.
Let’s do one more. This time, I’m going to use an LED and bind it to a Logic End object. Our goal is for the LED to be in the On state when a particular threshold has been met. Let’s drag an LED above this fader, which will act as the trigger object. I’m going to make the On state an amber color, and the Off state zero opacity. This LED is going to act as a warning or caution for us. Let’s find the Logic End parameter from the Parameter Tree and drag it onto the LED. The underlying logic circuit has been set up so that when this fader is equal to, or above a certain threshold, then the Logic End object is triggered, which should now also turn on our LED in this panel. Launching the panel, we’ll see that it loads with the LED in the off state. I’m going to push this fader and once it hits that threshold and goes above it, the LED will turn on.
