Dante Input & Output | Virtual View - AVX Architect
In this tutorial, we explore the Dante objects in AVX Architect’s Virtual View, which allow you to send and receive audio over Dante between external devices using the Dante Controller application. Learn how to configure Dante objects, add Dante channels, and assign channels to specific cards on your Soundweb OMNI hardware.

In this video, we’ll continue to explore the Virtual view of AVX Architect and look at the Public Dante objects. Dante objects can be found in the Virtual Library under the Dante category. Dante Rx or “receive” is used to route audio from other Dante devices to the OMNI DSP using Audinate’s Dante Controller application. We call this Public Dante. Conversely, Dante Tx or “transmit” is used to route audio from the OMNI DSP to other devices using the Dante Controller application. Wires connecting Public Dante objects are shown as solid lines. Routing between OMNI devices like DSP’s and Expanders uses a different kind of Dante we call Private Dante. This is covered in greater detail in a different video.
The default factory panel will show segmented meters here if they’ve been enabled in the options, along with a set of controls to change how they display. Rise Time and Fall Time change how slow or fast the meter responds to the signal. Lower times show instantaneous values where higher times display a more average level over time. Offset is used to slew the center of the meter up or down. This is useful when trying to meter very quiet signals below the normal threshold of the meter. This does not change the gain of the signal, but only how the signal is displayed on this meter.
At the top of the factory panel, we have the usual object name, lock button, and selection mode switch. On the right, the “Properties” window has the usual naming, workspace location, and DSP allocation options. This Meters On/Off selection will toggle the display of the meters in the factory panel. In addition to selecting which DSP in the system this Dante block is, you also have the option of choosing which of the two Dante cards in the DSP to assign the signal. Each of these Dante cards are displayed separately in Dante Controller. Selecting Edit next to Dante Channels allows you to add or remove Dante channels from the object block. Here is where you define the signal names as they appear in Dante Controller and within the Virtual view of AVX Architect.
