Virtual View - Component List | AVX Architect

Video Manual Series

Written by Tony Smith

Updated at October 30th, 2026

In this video, we explore the Component List section of AVX Architect, where you’ll find all hardware inputs and outputs, including audio and GPIO. Learn how to bring these components into the Virtual View workspace and use them to configure your system.

Transcript
In this video, we’ll continue to explore the virtual view of AVX Architect and look at the Component List. The Component List is where you can see all of our devices and their respective inputs and outputs to drag into the Virtual View canvas. By default, the Component List will be empty if there is no hardware added in our System View.
In the System View, I’m going to start by adding an Omni DSP and an Expander, then rename them DSP1 and EXP1. I’m also going to change some of our fixed and flex I/O to be digital inputs and outputs, and I’m also going to change one of these GPIO from a General Purpose Input to an Output. These changes are just to see how they reflect in our view of the Component List.
Go back to the Virtual View, and we will now see the Component List on the left has populated with our devices and their I/O. We can see our DSP and Expander, and the custom names we set for them are also indicated at the end. From here, individual components like these GP input or output objects can be added directly to the canvas to interact with other objects. The entire group can also be added to the canvas as a single object block but notice how dragging the group will only bring in the remaining available GPIO if any are already being used in the canvas. This same concept can also apply to the device name. If we drag the device name in, then all the available GPIO will be placed into our canvas.
Audio inputs and outputs can also be dragged in directly in the same manner. Doing so, notice that the fixed and flex cards will be separated if we drag our Analog Inputs group in, and this also applies to Analog Outputs and our Digital Ins and Outs. Digital inputs and outputs will naturally come in like a stereo pair since the digital signals are two-channel. Finally, the Component List also has a search function at the top that can be used to find specific inputs/outputs, or even devices. If I search “D-I-G”, we will see our digital inputs presented to us, or I could search “E-X-P-1” and we will see our expander with all of its ins and outs.
