Ethernet Trigger - Logic Ends | AVX Architect

Video Manual Series

Written by Tony Smith

Updated at October 30th, 2026

In this tutorial, we cover the Ethernet Trigger object in AVX Architect’s Virtual View, which sends custom messages via the Ethernet port when its input is triggered by a logic event. Learn where to find the Ethernet Trigger in the Virtual Library, understand conditions for high and low states, and explore its properties and options for advanced network-based control.

In this video, we’ll continue to explore the Virtual view of AVX Architect and look at the various Logic End Objects. The Ethernet Trigger is used to send custom messages out one of the Ethernet ports on the rear of the Soundweb Omni device.
The Ethernet Trigger has no control panel, and all the settings are set under Options in the property window. The IP Address option is for the IP Address of the device you wish to send messages to. Loopback addresses and the address of the London device itself are not valid entries. Mode of Operation will allow you to switch between a Table or List. List mode allows two messages per input – one for a LOW input and one for a HIGH input. Table mode which treats the inputs as binary, thus giving a greater number of states. Number of Inputs is selectable from 1 to 12 while in Table Mode and 1 to 31 in List Mode. Port is the IP Port number on the receiving device and the Type is to select between TCP or UDP protocol. Clicking the Ethernet Table will bring up the table, where you can double click under Serial to enter messages for each state. A dropdown here will allow you select the message format; either decimal, hexadecimal, or ASCII for each state.
A transition from low to high on the Connect input node will cause the Omni to attempt to create a socket to the provided Ethernet address, port number, and protocol type specified in the options of the object. The connected output will illuminate when a TCP connection has been made and messages can be sent to the devices. Remember that socket time-outs can take up to a few minutes after actually being broken before the connected indicator will turn off if the remote socket simply drops offline without sending a close message in unexpected circumstances. To ensure a connection, you can toggle the connect node low then high again. This will cause the Omni to request a new socket connection and update the Connected status will be updated.
Some devices require the message to contain a printable ASCII message followed by an unprintable ASCII character such as a carriage return. The best way to accomplish this type of data entry is to start in ASCII mode and switch to Hex/Decimal mode like so. Type in the printable ASCII characters and press enter. Use the drop-down box to select either Hex or Decimal. You can now add the carriage-return, decimal 13, to the end of the message. Now, toggling back and forth between ASCII and decimal will show the carriage return character is present.
