4800/4820 Checksum Error

Rating

How do I fix Checksum Error on Display for the DriveRack 4800/4820?

Checksum Error in the 4800/4820 is often caused by a faulty CR2032 battery within the unit itself. The battery maintains the save state of the internal memory of the unit, and allows you to save presets to memory whenever the unit is unplugged.

Over time this battery can fail and trigger a number of issues, notably a “Checksum” error on the display upon bootup.  Other potential failures can be loss of presets and odd or garbled characters on the display screen.

Replacement of the internal battery should resolve these issues.  This procedure involves removal of the main PCB assembly and removing the solder connections for the battery from the underside.  Once the battery has been replaced, you will need to perform the factory reset procedure as outlined in the manual.

We recommend battery replacement by qualified repair technicians only.
