Question:
Is there a maximum cable length for a 70v speaker system?
Answer:
One of the primary benefits of using 70v systems is that they can carry a signal for great distances of over 1000 feet or more. That said, each speaker will be slightly quieter the further it is from the amplifier. To achieve these distances we recommend using a good quality all-copper wire in a reasonably thick wire gauge (12 AWG wire can drive a speaker 1000 feet away with only 1.1db of loss). Here is a link to help estimate speaker line loss and SPL depending on the wire gauge and distances to the speaker and listening target: https://geoffthegreygeek.com/distributed-speaker-system-cable-loss-calculator/#jumpto
