How to set up the Blu Link card for the Active Breakout Box in the Vi Local rack
Soundcraft VI Local Racks using a Passive Breakout Box have the ability to expand their I/O with an Active Breakout Box. By adding a Blu Link card to
the D21m section of the Local-rack and transferring the LineIn, LineOut and AES converters for
the local I/O to an external box, four additional double slots
became available in the local-rack. The new Active Breakout Box has only a pair of UTP cables forwarding
32 Ins and 32 Outs digitally between itself and the core. To have this connection
work as expected, we need to set the Blu Link card up utilizing the dip switches below.
The needed settings
Channel assignment need to be set for 32 ins and 32 outs.
Dip switch 2 and 6 on S1 must be ON.
To be the Host (aka Clock source) for the Blu Link network
the Host button must be IN.
On Ramp/Off Ramp switches - which group of channels on the
BLU Link network card “listens” and “speaks” to. Switch 6 on S0 must be ON.

After the settings have been set, we can insert the card to
the Local rack and connect the Out port from the Active Breakout Box to the In
port on the Blue Link card, and vice versa.
