Clearing IOS Errors on a DGX

Rating

Question:

I have an IOS error showing on my DGX, how do I resolve this?

Answer:

*An IOS error can occur on DGX 8, 16, 32 or 64 chassis.

**An IOS error can also occur on the front panel of a 100 series DGX since the front panel runs its own OS.

For a DGX 8, 16, 32 or 64 the serial port is located on the rear of the unit, bottom left.

For a 100 series front panel, you will need to carefully separate the front panel from the chassis after loosening the thumb screws to access the serial port on the back of the front panel. Keep in mind there is a cat cable and a power cable attached to the back of the front panel so you do not want to pull the front panel too far away from the chassis.

  1. Connect to the serial port via a null-modem serial cable.
  2. Using a terminal emulator such as Putty or TeraTerm, start a new session.
    1. Baud Settings should be 9600, 8, 1, N, no flow control
    2. However, if 9600 does not work, try 57600, 8, 1, N, no flow control
  3. When IOS prompt is shown, press the keyboard keys jyb
    1. 'j' to clear journal
    2. 'y' to confirm
    3. 'b' to boot
