Driving 25V Constant Voltage Speakers with CDi Drivecore or DCiN Drivecore FAQ
Is it possible to drive 25V speakers from higher voltage amplifiers
without exceeding their voltage rating?
Answer: The CDi Drivecore
300W and DCi Drivecore 300W amps are capable of 49VRMS output even at their LoZ
settings.
Since these amplifiers do provide more than 25VRMS output, you will need to set
their limiters so that you do not send more voltage to the loudspeakers than is
needed.
Is additional setup needed?
Answer: You must add a High Pass Filter setting in the amplifier crossover to keep from saturating the speaker transformers. Typically in the range of 40Hz – 100Hz. For best results use the speaker manufacturer's specifications.
Note: setting the HiZ mode in the CDi Drivecore or DCi amplifiers automatically adds a 35Hz HPF.
