Creative Customer Use-Case Turns into Product EnhancementsRecently, we learned that a customer was installing multiple UVC1-4K capture devices on the same PC in multiple locations. But since each device name always appears as AMX-UVC1-4K, this made it challenging to tell them apart without modifying the Windows registry. Also in some rooms the customer did not want the UVC1-4K device to appear as a selectable mic/input option so that the user could always be sure to select the correct mic during a conference call. Selecting None only Mutes the audio but they needed the UVC device to not show up at all as an audio input option. We listened and made a few changes in the firmware and the UVC Configuration Tool to support these new features.

Features added in the Hotfix release (Firmware and UVC Configuration Tool)
- Added ability to customize the Device Name (defaults to AMX-UVC1-4K)
- Updated UVC Configuration Tool Video page with custom Device Name edit box
- Note: "AMX - " is automatically added in front of the custom name when viewed in Device Manager to maintain product identity.
- eg. If Device Name changed to "Front Camera" it will appear in Windows Device Manager as "AMX - Front Camera"
- Added ability to disable audio so that it will not appear as a mic/input selection in video conferencing program (as well as in Windows sound propertices, device manager.)
- Updated Audio page on the UVC Configuration Tool to add the Enable Audio toggle button
- This setting defaults to enabled and can be disabled by sliding the toggle button to the left
- Updated the UVC Configuration Tool Firmware Version to show the version number rather than the version release date.
- Enabled a watchdog to monitor the processor and restart if video issues are detected
CUSTOM DEVICE NAME INSTRUCTIONS
- After changing Device Name in the UVC Config Tool, Tool will automatically close
- Then open Device Manager and expand the Cameras section.
- Right click on the old UVC1-4K device name and select "Uninstall device"
- Then right click on Cameras and select "Scan for hardware changes"
- The new UVC1 device name will now show up
- Follow the same steps above for the Sound, video and game controllers section by uninstalling the old device name and then scan for hardware changes
- The new UVC1 device name will now show up
- Note: The reason both are needed is that some video conference programs (i.e. Zoom) use the device name from Cameras and others (i.e. Microsoft Teams) use the name from Sound, video and game controllers
