1) Computer with a serial RS232 port or USB-to-Serial adapter. USB adapters with FTDI chipset or Prolific chipset are recommended.
2) Null modem cable or Null Modem gender changer adapter.
Female 9-pin D-Type to Female 9-pin D-Type where pin 2&3, 4&6, 7&8 are crossed over.
Configuring Putty
The Session options should be configured as below:
Enter Speed: 115200
Set Connection type to: Serial
Enter the COM port used by your serial port. Check Windows Device Manager for correct COM port number.
The Terminal options should be configured as shown below:
The Serial options should be configured as shown below:
This configuration can be saved in the Session options.
Confirming connection
Before you begin, the Soundweb London device should be fully booted.
Click: Open to start the connection.
In the command line window, enter: ?
A list of commands will be displayed. This confirms that the connection is working.
Troubleshooting
If Putty displays error messages during connection then please check:
1) Serial port or USB adapter:
Ensure that drivers have been installed, if necessary. Check Windows Device Manager for issues.
2) Cable:
Ensure that cable is wired as Null Modem and terminations are not intermittent.
Ensure that gender changer adapter is Null Modem type.
3) Do not adjust settings in Windows Device Manager / Ports / Port Settings.
4) Ensure that Soundweb London device is fully booted.
If in doubt, connect to a different Soundweb London device.
