Question:
What is the maximum length the cable can be extended on an IR emitter?
Answer:
The 'official' maximum length is 10 feet, i.e. the cable we provide.
The true maximum length is a factor of many variables; including wire gauge, twist, capacitance, inductance, receiver sensitivity, and last, but not least, the carrier frequency of the IR codes. Theoretical calculations vary widely, yielding results in the teens up to several hundred feet. It's truly a case-by-case evaluation, and the quickest answers are probably found by trial and error.
This is why we can only guarantee functionality with our provided 10 foot cable. This is true of both the Axcess and NetLinx product lines.
