AMX NX Series Battery

1036-NX Series Battery

The NX-1200, NX-2200, NX-3200 and NX-4200 controllers have an on-board clock circuit to maintain the controller time and a CR2032 lithium cell battery to supply power to the clock when the unit is not powered externally.   This battery is also used to maintain non-volatile and persistent data.   Source code and IR files are stored in other memory and are not maintained by this battery.   Should a failure occur in the battery one would notice the loss of time status and persistent variables if the controller loses power.  The battery is mounted in a battery socket soldered to the PCB and can be field replaced by removing the cover plate on the controller.   This will often require dismounting the controller if installed in a rack.

Normal lifespan of these batteries can be up to 10 years, which is the nominal shelf life of this type of battery.  Batteries in normal use, that is, the controller is powered at all times, can be expected to endure for that entire 10-year span.  Units with extensive time off external power would have reduced life span.  A controller left without external power ever connected could expect a 5-year life before the battery no longer has sufficient charge to maintain the data.

The CR2032 battery is a commonly available battery used in many devices.  It can be purchased locally at stores with camera or electronic departments.
